ANNAPURNA 1ST EXPEDITION
Climbing Annapurna 1 (10th highest in world) will add your name to the history books!
Height is not the only factor to consider when climbing a mountain. Annapurna 1 (8,091m /26,545 ft) is a prime example of this, as it has the least number of ascents of any high peak in Nepal and possibly the world. This mountain is not for the feint – hearted and should only be attempted by highly experienced climbers. Storms, avalanches and looming glacial slopes make this an extremely difficult and dangerous mountain to climb. South Face is said to be the most dangerous climb in the world. You will need your wits about you and an enormous amount of courage to consider this climb.
The famous mountaineer George Mallory when asked why do people risk their lives to climb mountains? He replied, “Because it’s there,” Annapurna 1 is located in the Himalayas in the north of Nepal that includes 13 peaks over 7000m/22,970ft and 16 peaks over 6000m/19,690ft. The entire Annapurna Massif is 55km/34 miles long and is to the east of Kali Gandaki Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world. This climb will satisfy your love of mountains and your ‘can do’ attitude to overcoming fear. The following list ofpeaks highlights the enormity of this range: Annapurna I (Main) 8,091m, Annapurna II 7,937m, Annapurna III 7,555m, Annapurna IV 7,525m, Gangapurna 7,455m and Annapurna South 7,219m.
