The Everest Three Passes Trek is the quintessential Everest experience full of adventure and thrills with some of the best scenic trails. This tough trek passes through some of the most spectacular landscapes in the Himalayas including the three high passes of Renjo La (5388 M), Cho La (5380 M), and Kongma La (5535 M) with an added hike to the high altitude viewpoints, Gokyo Ri (5483 M), Kalapathar (5545 M) and Everest Base Camp (5364 M). An adventure-packed trek combined with the beautiful settlements and rich culture of the Sherpa people, a diverse range of flora and fauna, Buddhist monasteries, stupas, chortens and mani walls, glaciers, and stunning views of mountains while passing through the trail. Four of the world’s highest peaks; Everest (8848 M), Cho Oyu (8201 M), Makalu (8463 M), and Lhotse (8516 M) including many other peaks that can be seen in this trek which are simply enthralling. The hike to the Everest Base Camp and Kalapathar makes this trek an unforgettable experience with a feeling of accomplishment. Our 19-day Everest Three Passes Trek Itinerary is planned by experts ensuring safety with the utmost level of experience. It is the most difficult trek in the Everest region. However, the experience one gets is simply breathtaking and worth the difficulty. The trek starts from Lukla after a short scenic flight from Kathmandu and ends at the same place Lukla.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (1350 M) and transfer to hotel
Arrive in Kathmandu, Nepal’s bustling capital, and transfer to your hotel for the night. Rest and prepare for the exciting trek ahead.

Day 02: Kathmandu Valley sightseeing with tour guide
Spend the day exploring Kathmandu Valley’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites with a knowledgeable tour guide. Visit iconic locations such as Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Pashupatinath, Boudhanath Stupa, and Durbar Square.

Day 03: Drive to Manthali, fly to Lukla (2840 M) & trek to Phakding (2652 M)
After a scenic drive to Manthali, take a flight to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region. Begin your trek towards Phakding, a village nestled along the Dudh Kosi River, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440 M)
Begin your trek to Namche Bazaar, a lively Sherpa town. The trek is a gradual climb through dense forest and suspension bridges, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

Day 05: Acclimatization day and explore around
Spend a day in Namche Bazaar to adjust to the higher altitude. You can hike to the Everest View Hotel for panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam, or visit the Sherpa Culture Museum.

Day 06: Trek to Thame (3800 M)
Trek from Namche to Thame, a quieter and scenic village. The path passes through beautiful forests, offering peaceful surroundings and a chance to learn about Sherpa culture and traditions.

Day 07: Trek to Lungden (4600 M)
From Thame, continue your ascent to Lungden, located in a beautiful alpine setting. The landscape changes as you get closer to the high-altitude terrain.

Day 08: Trek to Gokyo (4800 M) via Renjo La Pass (5465 M)
Trek to Gokyo, passing over the challenging Renjo La Pass. At 5465 meters, the pass offers magnificent views of Mount Everest, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. The trek to Gokyo takes you through a landscape of glaciers and high mountain lakes.

Day 09: Early morning climb to Gokyo Ri (5340 M) and trek to Thagnak (4700 M)
Climb to the top of Gokyo Ri early in the morning for breathtaking panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. Afterward, trek to Thagnak, a small settlement with stunning surroundings.

Day 10: Trek to Dzongla (4830 M) via Chola Pass (5445 M)
Today’s trek takes you across the challenging Chola Pass, one of the highest points of your journey at 5445 meters. After crossing the pass, descend to Dzongla, a remote settlement with magnificent views.

Day 11: Trek to Gorakshep (5160 M)
From Dzongla, trek to Gorakshep, the last stop before Everest Base Camp. This is a short but steady climb to the base of Everest, passing through beautiful rocky terrain.

Day 12: Trek to Lobuche (4910 M)
Continue your trek to Lobuche, a small village located amidst the mountains. Lobuche serves as a resting point before heading further towards Everest Base Camp.

Day 13: Trek to Chhukung (4730 M) via Kongma La Pass (5535 M)
Trek through Kongma La Pass, a high-altitude pass at 5535 meters, offering spectacular views of the Khumbu region. After crossing, descend to Chhukung, a small village surrounded by towering peaks.

Day 14: Trek to Tengboche (3860 M)
Trek down from Chhukung to Tengboche, passing through beautiful forests of rhododendron and pine. Tengboche is famous for its monastery, which offers a serene atmosphere and stunning views of Everest and Ama Dablam.

Day 15: Trek to Monjo (2835 M)
From Tengboche, continue your trek to Monjo, descending through forests and villages. Monjo is a peaceful village and offers a great place to rest after the strenuous days of trekking.

Day 16: Trek to Lukla (2840 M)
Complete the final leg of your trek by descending back to Lukla. The trail passes through several small villages and offers your last views of the mighty mountains.

Day 17: Fly to Manthali and drive to Kathmandu (1350 M)
Fly back from Lukla to Manthali, then drive back to Kathmandu. Enjoy the drive through picturesque landscapes, and spend your evening at leisure in Kathmandu.

Day 18: Extra day in case of flight cancellation due to bad weather
This day is reserved in case of any flight delays due to bad weather in the mountainous region, which can sometimes affect flights in and out of Lukla.

Day 19: Final departure
After your unforgettable adventure in the Himalayas, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your final departure from Kathmandu, taking with you memories of a lifetime.
