Rara Lake Trek

Rara Lake Trek will take you to the far west of Nepal around Jumla and the Mugu district. The main highlight of this trek is Rara Lake itself. Known as the largest lake in Nepal, Rara Lake is located at 2,990 meters above sea level. Rara Lake Trek will give you a chance to explore and experience pristine nature and the rich culture of this region. During the trek, you will also walk on trodden paths. This lake comes inside the Rara National Park, which is home to several rare wildlife like Musk Deer, Himalayan Black Bear, Leopard, Himalayan Ghoral, Red Panda, and numerous species of birds. Moreover, Snow Trout is the only species of fish, you will find in this lake. During the trek, you will pass by various lush forests along with enjoying marvelous views of the Himalayan mountains. Our 15-day Rara Lake Trek Itinerary begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj and then to Jumla. From Jumla, you will begin trekking towards Daanphe Lagna. The trail then passes by Chautha and Dhotu and leads you to Rara Lake. Spending a day here, you will cross Murma Top, and descend to Gorusingha. Further, trekking through the forested trail, you will pass Sinja Valley, and walk down the hill to reach Jumla via Jaljala Chaur

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (1350 M) and Transfer to Hotel
Arrive in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, and transfer to your hotel. After a long flight, take time to relax and prepare for the upcoming adventure.

Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing
Enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of the Kathmandu Valley. Visit historical and cultural landmarks such as Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Boudhanath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square, each offering a glimpse into Nepal’s rich heritage.

Day 03: Fly to Nepalgunj (150 M)
Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, located in the lowlands of western Nepal. The flight offers scenic views of the Himalayas, and upon arrival, you’ll transfer to your hotel in Nepalgunj.

Day 04: Fly to Jumla (2370 M)
Take an early morning flight to Jumla, a remote town surrounded by beautiful mountains. From here, the trekking adventure begins. Once in Jumla, you’ll prepare for the trek to the higher altitude.

Day 05: Trek to Chere Chaur (2980 M)
Start your trek to Chere Chaur, a scenic village nestled at an altitude of 2980 meters. Along the way, you’ll pass through forests and small villages, providing a great introduction to the region’s natural beauty.

Day 06: Trek to Chalachaur (2770 M)
Continue your journey towards Chalachaur. This village offers an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture while taking in the surrounding mountains and landscapes.

Day 07: Trek to Sinja Valley (2380 M)
Trek to Sinja Valley, an important historical site in the region. Sinja was once the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Jumla, and it’s home to beautiful landscapes and ancient temples.

Day 08: Trek to Ghorosingha (3190 M)
Ascend to Ghorosingha, which sits at 3190 meters. Enjoy the changing scenery as you gain altitude, with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

Day 09: Trek to Rara Lake (2980 M)
Today, you’ll reach the stunning Rara Lake, located at an altitude of 2980 meters. This is the largest lake in Nepal and is known for its crystal-clear waters, surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Spend time relaxing and taking in the serene surroundings.

Day 10: Explore Around Rara Lake
Spend the day exploring the area around Rara Lake. You can take a hike around the lake or simply relax and enjoy the peaceful environment. The views are spectacular, and it’s a great place to unwind and connect with nature.

Day 11: Trek to Pina (2580 M)
Descend to Pina, a small village located at 2580 meters. The trek offers scenic views and is an opportunity to experience the local culture as you pass through remote villages.

Day 12: Trek to Burma (2580 M)
Continue your trek towards Burma, another village at 2580 meters. The trek follows a beautiful path through forests and mountain slopes, offering views of the surrounding peaks and valleys.

Day 13: Trek to Jumla (2370 M)
Trek back to Jumla, retracing your steps through the beautiful landscapes you passed earlier. This is the final leg of your trekking adventure, and you’ll have time to reflect on the stunning journey through the remote areas of Nepal.

Day 14: Fly to Kathmandu (1350 M) via Nepalgunj (150 M)
Fly back to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy some free time to explore the capital or relax before your departure.

Day 15: Final Departure
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport for your final departure. Take home the memories of an unforgettable adventure in Nepal. Safe travels!
